Clayton Saunders is an international award winning singer/songwriter and a Golden Guitar nominee.
Clayton was born and raised in Calcutta, India. At age seven Clayton was taught the piano and learned
to play light classical music such as The Blue Danube Waltz, The Teddy Bears Picnic and other famous tunes.
At age 11 he was invited to perform on the A.I.R (All India Radio) which was a children’s half program aired on Sunday afternoons.
Clayton left school at 15 to become a professional entertainer performing in some of Calcutta’s most famous nightclubs with great success.
At 17 Clayton formed a Pop Group that took India by storm, called The Flintstones (yes like the cartoon characters)
and reigned as India’s number one band for more than 3 years.
Immigrating to Melbourne, Australia in June 1969, Clayton soon found his way onto local and national T.V. shows gaining popularity
as one half of Victoria’s famous folk/pop duo David and Nawab. They performed at numerous venues both in the state of Victoria and Tasmania.
In 1976 Clayton hosted the radio show ‘Into Country’ on radio 3YB Warrnambool in West Victoria. The popular Sunday afternoon show aired from 1976-1978.
In the mid 70’s Clayton found greater success as the founding member of country star Johnny Chester’s backing band ‘Hotspur’.
In association with Johnny Chester made regular appearances on Johnny’s successful ABC T.V. show ‘Into Country.’ In 1979 Chester
and Hotspur achieved their first top ten hit with ‘I Love You So Rebecca.’
In 1983 Clayton was invited to join famous Victorian country show band ‘Stoney Creek’ as their lead singer and remained with the band till 1985.
In 1983 & 1984 the band were awarded Best Vocal Country Group and Clayton was voted ‘Most Popular Country Personality’ in 1984.
Stoney Creek won best vocal group at the renowned Wandong Country Music Festival in 1984. Later that year Clayton and the band earned a Golden Guitar
nomination for Best Country Song for his composition ‘Angel Eyes’ at the prestigious Tamworth Country Music Awards.
In 1987 Clayton released an Easy Listening solo album featuring some of the great hits like My Special Angel, 18 Yellow Roses and Rambling Rose.
The album contained two self-penned songs, one was Roses & Heartaches which was the title of the album. ABC radio in Australia and their affiliate
stations around the world included a number of tracks of the album on their various easy listening playlists.
In 1990 Clayton was given the opportunity to join The New Echoes) formerly The Blue Echoes a multi-talented show group who were well-known
for their various themed floorshows. He stayed with the band for five years raising his profile as a multi-instrumentalist, singer and floorshow artist.
In 1998 Clayton created his amazing Cliff Richard Tribute Show. The show was booked to perform on the famous Star Cruises ship the Gemini.
The show was a hit with both the passengers and the staff alike. Clayton’s talents were noticed by the management of Star Cruises and he was
offered the position of assistant Cruise Director, and later became the Cruise Director of the Gemini.
Clayton’s singles Life Hurts Without Her and For The Rest of My Life has made it onto the coveted Official Worldwide IndieTopChart for independent artists.
Clayton has been releasing one single every three months since 2019.

Clayton’s song God Knows won best gospel/spiritual song at the Tamworth Songwriting Association song competition in January 2023.
Clayton’s current goal is to establish himself as an international songwriter. With over 40 year’s experience as a touring performance artist,
along with numerous T.V. appearances and a radio show under his belt, Clayton offers his talent’s as a singer/songwriter in the country music genre.
